Cork survived a late Galway onslaught at Pearse Stadium to make it three wins from their last three outings in Division 1A.

In a dramatic finish, the hosts had an equalising Jason Flynn 'goal' disallowed by referee Fergal Horgan and the Rebels held on to bag maximum points.

The Tribesmen were awarded a 20m free in the third minute of added-on time following a foul on Johnny Glynn.

Up stepped Joe Canning but his effort was saved by Anthony Nash.

Flynn subsequently got a flick to a Joseph Cooney pull which diverted the ball past the Cork custodian but Horgan intervened to rule the goal out for a square ball infringement.

Two goals from Paudie O'Sullivan proved to be the winning of the game for the visitors.

In particular, his second which arrived in the 63rd minute and which was presented to him on a plate by the Galway defence.

O'Sullivan pounced on a stray Galway hand pass and made no mistake to give his side a 2-14 to 0-18 lead.

The full-forward from Cloyne raised his first green flag in the 18th minute and that strike separated the sides at the break, 1-10 to 0-10.

Try as the might, Galway were unable to make up the difference in the second-half although the referee departed the pitch with a chorus of boos from the home support ringing in his ears.
