Galway midfielder Thomas Flynn is set to miss the remainder of the 2015 national football league.
Flynn, who had only returned from a knee injury, suffered catilage damage during DCU's Sigerson Cup quarter-final win over St Mary's College in Belfast.
He underwent surgery to repair the problem and missed out on DCU's Sigerson semi-final and final victories over the weekend.
The 2011 and 2013 All-Ireland U21 FC winner was involved in both of the Tribesmen's league matches so far this season - wins over Meath and Westmeath - but he will be sidelined for six-eight weeks and is unlikely to play again until the championship.
On a more positive note, Kevin Walsh will be boosted by the return of Damien Comer for Sunday's clash with Laois in Tuam. The Anaghdown clubman - who like Flynn is a dual player - missed the first two games with a hand injury.
