UCD are heading to Cork for the Sigerson Cup finals weekend courtesy of a convincing nine point victory over GMIT at Belfield today.

The hot-favourites, who are bidding to end a 19 year wait for Sigerson success, bossed the first-half proceedings and turned around with an 1-11 to 1-2 advantage.

Mark Hughes netted UCD's goal in the 14th minute before Andy Glennon pulled a goal back for GMIT, who were minus the services of four Corofin players, three minutes later.

The Galway outfit produced a much improved showing in the second-half but John Divilly's charges always had enough in reserve.

UCD now turn their attention to finals weekend which will be hosted by UCC and a semi-final date with Dublin rivals DCU.
