Roscommon 4-8
Galway 1-12

Four second half goals secured a first FBD Connacht League football title since 1999 for an impressive Roscommon side at Kiltoom.

Picking up from where they left off against Mayo in Castlebar last Sunday, John Evans' charges cut loose in the second period after Diarmuid Murtagh's point had given them a slender 0-6 to 0-5 lead at half-time.

Ciaran Murtagh raised their first green flag shortly after the restart before the post denied Donie Smith a second. But there was no respite for the Tribesmen as two more goals in the space of a minute from Diarmuid Murtagh and Ciaran Cafferkey extended the hosts' advantage to 3-6 to 0-8.

Enda Smith cracked home a fourth goal to make it 4-7 to 0-12 before Enda Tierney managed a late consolation for Galway who, after this first defeat under Kevin Walsh, must pick themselves up for next weekend's Allianz League opener against Meath.
