Three candidates will battle it out for the Galway hurling committee chairman's position at tonight's AGM in Loughgeorge.

With Joe Byrne stepping down under the five-year rule, Tom Connor from Castlegar, Craughwell's Michael Larkin and Kenneth Fox of Moycullen will run for the top job. Connor has also been nominated to oppose outgoing vice-chairman John Fahey. Pat Kearney is set to continue as secretary, while Malachy Hanley of Carnmore will be the new financial officer.

The hurling committee's income for the year is down from €1,048,929 in 2013 to €724,554 with expenditure of €821,709 down from €981,153. The dramatic fall in income can be attributed to the fact the Galway SHC was still some way from completion when the end-of-year accounts were filed at the end of October.
