A Golden Jubilee banquet in honour of Galway's three-in-a-row All-Ireland winning football team of the 1960s will take place next Saturday, December 6 in the Salthill Hotel.

The team is regarded as one of the greatest in Gaelic football history, winning the Sam Maguire in 1964, '65 and '66. The Tribesmen defeated Kerry in the '64 and '65 finals before completing the three-in-a-row at Meath's expense in '67.

Sadly, two of its star performers - Enda Colleran and Mattie McDonagh - have passed to their eternal reward, but will nevertheless be remembered at the celebration. Colleran, who was a pundit on The Sunday Game in the 1980s, captained the side in '65 and '66.

The Galway hurling team that won a three-in-a-row of US senior championships in the same years will also be honoured at the banquet, which is expected to be a sell-out.
