A link to Japanese pornography images has appeared on the Connacht GAA Council's website.

It appears that the website was hacked last Friday when, after clicking on a link to fixtures for this weekend, users were directed to a Japanese site containing pictures of nude women.

The Western People newspaper alerted Connacht Council secretary John Prenty to the offending material and he said: "It appears that when information about the Connacht Championships was put up it impacted on the site and other stuff appeared.

"We knew nothing about it until you told us. It was removed immediately."
