New Galway senior football manager Kevin Walsh dusted the cobwebs off his football boots to help Killanin win the Galway IFC title for the first time in their history yesterday.

Injuries threatened to derail Killanin's final bid so the two-time All-Ireland winning midfielder, who is 45 years of age, answered an SOS call from the team's management to tog out for the decider.

And Walsh was thrust into the action with six minutes left on the clock at Tuam Stadium when injury brought midfielder Eamon McDonagh's participation against Moycullen to a premature end.

There was to be a fairytale ending for the three-time All-Star as Killanin secured a 0-13 to 0-10 victory.
