Brendan Lynskey has hinted that he may pull out of the Galway hurling manager race if the county board's management committee decides to look outside the four nominated candidates.

Three-time All-Ireland winner Lynskey has been nominated along with ex-selector Mattie Kenny, U21 manager Johnny Kelly and the outgoing Anthony Cunningham. But Anthony Daly's decision to step down as Dublin manager has fuelled speculation that the management committee will consider him for the role.

Lynskey, who was nominated by Meelick/Eyrecourt, said in the Connacht Tribune: "I am allowing my name to go forward, but I would like a bit more clarity about the process going forward.

"There are four people nominated for the job and I would like to know if more people can be added. If other people can be added, where does that leave the clubs who have nominated us?"

The position is expected to be filled within the next fortnight.
