Next Mayo and Galway managers

September 01, 2014

The west is awake in the search for new managers for all Intercounty three teams in Galway and Mayo. Galway hurling manager Anthony Cunnigham has reapplied for another term is predicted to hang on against former selector Mattie Kenny however

if Anthony Daly steps down from Dublin hurling, according to John Mulholland bookmakers GAA compilers he'd be a live runner in the race.

As for the search for the Galway football manager, nominations must be submitted by Friday and the market will become clear from there but it looks like Kevin Walsh's job to lose according to the betting.

As for Mayo, the search is on after James Horan stepped down on Saturday night following their All Ireland defeat. Instantly John Mulholland installed Kevin McStay as the odds on favourite after  the former St Brigids manager courted the job live on the Sunday Game and gave a passionate defence of Mayo football and people. The list of candidates compiled by John Mulholland's though is a fairly extensive and McStay could find himself up against the likes of minor all Ireland winning manager Enda Gilvarry, Donie Buckley and perhaps even Armagh man Tony McEntee.
