TG4 All Ireland Quarter Final Teams Named

August 22, 2014

There is plenty of action in the TG4 Ladies Gaelic Football Championships this weekend with quarter finals taking place in Senior and Intermediate grades and semi finals in the Junior grade.

The first match tomorrow is the TG4 Senior Quarter final meeting between Dublin and Kerry. Dublin will enter this match as favourites after they enjoyed a great Leinster campaign. Sinead Finnegan is absent from their starting line up after suffering injury with her place taken by their captain, Sinead Goldrick who returns from injury and will be joined in the half back line by Siobhán McGrath who is also returning after a hand injury. There is also a change in midfield where Denise Masterson returns in place of Sarah McCaffrey with Molly Lamb joining her in the middle of the park, the front 6 have a familiar look about them with the dangerous inside trio of Davey, Aherne and Peat unchanged. For Kerry the big news is that Louise Ní Muircheartaigh returns to the starting line up at corner forward where she will join fellow All Star, Sarah Houlihan and Patrice Dennehy.

The second semi final in Birr features the meeting of the Connacht champions, Galway and the team that knocked them out in 2013, Monaghan. Galway name a strong team with a great mixture of youth and experience. Most notable is the inclusion of twin sisters, Nicola and Louise Ward who starred for the All Ireland winning Galway minor team earlier this year. Sinead Burke captains the team from wing back with the excellent Emer Flaherty anchoring the defence from centre half back. Annette Clarke resumes her midfield parternship with Ger Conneally where Clarke's match up against Amanda Casey could sway this game either way. Monaghan are a team full of experience having reached the All Ireland final last year and their starting XV reflects that. Christine Reilly  captains the side from corner back where she plays behind a super half backline of Gráinne McNally, Sharon Courtney and Aoife McAnespie. Amanda Casey will go up against Annette Clarke in midfield while there is a familiar look to the forwards where Cora Courtney, Cathriona McConnell and Niamh Kindlon are all expected to perform well. The presence of Caoimhe Mohan on the Monaghan bench following her return from travelling could be decisive depending on what stage she is introduced to the action.

Below are the team lists for all counties in TG4 Championship action this weekend.
