Kelly happy with U21 preparation

August 22, 2014

Manager Johnny Kelly believes his Galway U21 hurling side couldn't have prepared any better for tomorrow's All-Ireland semi-final against Wexford in Thurles.

"We have left no stone unturned and hopefully we can do our absolute best, for ourselves first of all, but also for Galway hurling. We want to bring passion and drive and hopefully we can do our county proud," he told the Connacht Tribune ahead of the Tribesmen's 2014 debut in the competition.

"We have prepared well and everyone involved has put in a huge effort. I mean, the commitment and sacrifice that these guys have given us over the last three to four months and going back further to last March, they have put in a huge effort. So it is all about getting the performance on Saturday and seeing where it will take us."

Kelly, who has been nominated for the Galway senior post, is under no illusions about the task facing Galway.

"Sure Wexford hurling is on an upward trend after their exploits at senior," he pointed out.

"This particular Wexford side has won the last two (Leinster) U21 titles so they will bring massive support. Their supporters really get behind their team. So it is a big challenge for us."
