Rahoon Newcastle Hurling Club will celebrate 125 years this August with a festival of hurling at their Tonabrucky HQ. The club which was founded in 1889 has fostered the game of hurling with generations of young hurlers and has tasted success at juvenile through to their senior teams throughout their 125 years.
The festival of hurling will take place on Saturday 30 August, starting will at 3pm with an Under 10 Blitz followed by a challenge game where the Rahoon Under 14 team will take on neighbours Salthill. Throughout the day there will be fun challenges with a Puc Fáda competition and a cross bar challenge. The festival of hurling will conclude with the Rahoon Intermediate team taking on Moycullen at 5:30pm.
There will be a fully serviced BBQ and refreshments served from 4pm.
"We want everyone who played, coached and supported Rahoon over the years to come up and be part of this special celebration. We have a great club and would love for this new generation to meet the men and women who hurled and made Rahoon the hurling club that it is today," said Club Chairman Tony Regan.
Tickets, €10 for a single and €30 for a family are available from all team managers and club officials from this Friday at the clubs HQ in Tonabrucky. For more information log onto www.rahoonnewcastle.com.
