Galway are optimistic that Gary O'Donnell will be fit to play in Sunday's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Kerry.

The inspirational centre back sustained a shoulder injury during Saturday's Round Four Qualifier win over Tipperary in Tullamore and was replaced by dual star Daithi Burke.

But manager Alan Mulholland is confident that his regular No.6 will be cleared to line out against the Munster champions at Croke Park in five days' time:

"There is no significant damage done and it is less sore with each passing day," he confirms in The Irish Independent.

"We will need to manage him regarding training and it is a case of 'watch and see' but Gary himself is confident that he will be fine and that's great."

The Tribesmen have no other injury concerns as they bid to shoot down the high-flying Kingdom.
