Preview: Connacht SFC final: Mayo v Galway

Mayo's display against Roscommon in the semi-final left a lot to be desired and manager James Horan has acted by making four changes to his team.

Chris Barrett will make his first competitive start since last year's All-Ireland final defeat by Dublin in place of the injured Tom Cunniffe while Barry Moran, captain Andy Moran and Alan Dillon are all recalled to the starting 15.

Conor O'Shea, Diarmuid O'Connor and Alan Freeman will have to content themselves with a place on the bench as Mayo go in search of a fourth Connacht SFC title in-a-row.

Galway won't care to be reminded of the 0-11 to 4-16 hammering they shipped at the hands of Mayo in Salthill last summer.

Alan Mulholland will look to his midfield pairing of Fiontain O Curraoin and Thomas Flynn to give his team a foothold in the match while Mayo can't afford to ignore the scoring prowess of Shane Walsh.

The Tribesmen's manager revealed this week that his game-plan will be "keep it tight, and hopefully in the last 15 or 20 minutes we might still be in with a shout."

Mayo will be on their guard, however, after getting the wake-up call they needed against Roscommon.

While a repeat of last year's massacre is unlikely, it's difficult to envisage anything other than Andy Moran getting his hands on the Nestor Cup yet again.
