Galway's Michael Meehan. INPHO
Michael Meehan put his injury hell behind him to manage his alma mater St. Jarlath's, Tuam to a Connacht PP 1st Year 'A' football championship title last Thursday.

The 29-year-old Caltra clubman, who has been forced to take a break from the Galway football panel for the 'foreseeable future' because of a recurring ankle problem, called the shots from the sideline as Jarlath's came from 1-4 to 3-7 down five minutes into the second half to edge out old rivals St. Colman's, Claremorris by 3-11 to 3-10 in a dramatic final at Milltown.

The Jarlath's fightback was led by wing forward Rossa Ryan, who scored 2-5 in the second half alone.

Meehan is no stranger to success with the renowned north Galway football nursery, having captained them to Hogan Cup glory in 2002.

Incidentally, his former Galway team-mate, 2001 All-Ireland winner and All Star corner back Kieran Fitzgerald, had the task of looking after the vocal Jarlath's support on the day.
