Sweeney, Sean

The death occurred peacefully last week of Sean Sweeney, Ahascragh, Ballinasloe after a short illness. Sean (86) was a successful and respected businessman in Ahascragh, first of all in the pub and grocery trade and later in the hardware sector. He was a keen sportsman and in his youth excelled in the GAA with Ahascragh and rugby with Ballinasloe.

He was a keen golfer and played regularly in Mountbellew Golf Club where he was a respected member. Sean also loved the game of cards and in latter years played Bridge on a regular basis at Ahascragh and Caltra Bridge Clubs. His remains reposed at his residence before being removed for Mass of the Resurrection at St Cuan's Church Ahascragh and burial took place to Caltra Cemetery He is survived by his wife Moira, son Declan, daughters Marie, Sandra and Edel, grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, nephews, relatives, neighbours, former customers and a wide circle of friends.
