Paul Joyce RIP

The death of Paul Joyce from Lowry's Bar in Clifden has caused widespread sorrow throughout Connemara. Paul was a native of Cahir in Recess and also a former member of the Garda Siochana.
In his late fifties Paul had retired from the Gardai nine years ago and had been involved with his wife Eilish in the business in Clifden. As a Garda he had served in Monaghan and in Westport in latter years. He was widely known and well-liked throughout the area.
He was an accomplished footballer in his younger days and played on the Galway minor team in the late sixties. He also won a Connacht Colleges medal with St Mary's College in Galway.
Paul is survived by his wife Eilish, his son Damien - a well known Clifden gaelic footballer and member of this years Galway All Stars Intermediate team - and by a daughter Sinead who is presently in England. He is also Survived by his brothers Noel, Benny and Jarlath and his sisters Mary and Josephine.
