Goode, William

December 01, 2008
One of the main men behind the long run of major victories by St Grellan's Football Club, Ballinasloe in the late 1970's died this year, in June: William Goode from Moher, Ballinasloe, club man in the glory years of that decade, was also well known in farming circles and in all walks of life in his native town. He was a member of renowned local family, and he had great pride in his heritage and his roots. He was also a keen follower of county teams, and was noted good company wherever people gathered to talk about football and the fortunes of the Maroon and White, but first ad foremost, he was a loyal clubman. There is still much regret in Ballinasloe that a good friend of the town and district is gone but he will always be fondly remembered. Tuam Herald, 1/12/08
