Corofin must change routine

Corofin captain Micheál Lundy and Jason Leonard celebrate with the Frank Fox Cup

Three in a row chasing Corofin must change their routine ahead of the All-Ireland club SFC semi-final, due to a shorter break after Christmas.

The Galway kingpins made it four Connacht club SFC titles in a row when disposing of Roscommon champions Padraig Pearses in the provincial final last Sunday.

They are well used to returning to action very early after Christmas, but captain Michael Lundy revealed to the Connacht Tribune that they must change their plans this time around.

The All-Ireland club SFC semi-final will be played on the first weekend of January meaning a shorter break over the festive period.

“The short-run is unfamiliar, but it is probably unfamiliar for everyone else as well who is involved in it,” said Lundy.

“There is still a break there. We have plenty of time to enjoy this success, which is the most important thing. We tried to enjoy the county final win but with the hectic schedule we probably didn’t get to enjoy it as much as we would have liked. We’ll enjoy this and we’ll have to knuckle down across Christmas and work hard.”
