Defending champions St Thomas' have been paired with Tommy Larkins in the Galway SHC quarter-finals.

The Peterswell/Kilchreest outfit were drawn against Larkins after a Ronan Murphy goal and a succession of Jason Flynn points helped the latter to a 1-19 to 0-15 preliminary quarter-final victory over Athenry.

Last year's finalists Liam Mellows defeated reigning All-Ireland club intermediate champions Oranmore / Maree by 1-21 to 1-14 to set up a quarter-final meeting with Sarsfields. Craughwell beat Tynagh / Abbey-Duniry by 1-17 to 0-16 and will now face Turloughmore in the last eight.

The other quarter-final will be contested by Loughrea and Cappataggle, who edged out Clarinbridge 0-22 to 1-16 in their preliminary quarter-final.
