Corofin captain Ciaran McGrath has suffered his fair share of injuries in recent times, but is determined to walk away on his own terms.

McGrath has suffered persistent knee injuries for the last couple of years, but still has worked hard to get back into the side.

The defending All-Ireland club champions take on Donegal and Ulster winners Gaoth Dobhair in Saturday’s semi-final at Carrick-on-Shannon.

McGrath is hoping to play if not all, some part in the game and despite the injuries, he has no intention of retiring anytime soon.

“I would just like to end it on my terms. I don’t want to dwindle away. Maybe the next few games might be a way to end it on my terms. Who knows? On the other hand, I could go on for another two years,” McGrath told the Connacht Tribune.

“So we’ll see, I suppose, after February or, if we are lucky enough, March, whenever it ends, we might open the knee up and have a look and see what can be done and try to prolong the career for another year or two.

“Again, we’ll see. I am sure there is another operation I could get done on it.”
