Damien Comer has sympathy for the plight of referees who will have to enforce the proposed new gaelic football rules.

The Galway captain believes that officials already have enough on their plate...

“They’re struggling with some of the rules there at the moment, and then you’re bombarding them with another five,” he pointed out to the Irish Daily Star.

“Players alike are getting confused with different rules and whatever. I think if you just stagger it and bring in maybe one.

“I’d definitely like if they brought in maybe just the kicking mark for the forward and the back.

“I think that would be a nice one to try out for this year, see how that goes and maybe experiment with another the following year.”
