Galway forward Joseph Cooney is unlikely to be fit for Sunday's NHL 1B clash against Dublin at Parnell Park.

The Sarsfields clubman was on the end of a serious shin injury sustained in the win over Offaly last weekend and he is unlikely to have recovered for the game against the Dubs.

Galway have won their opening three games and generally Dublin would provide them with a stern test, but they have failed to reach anywhere near their top form in the campaign so far.

Meanwhile, David Burke and Joe Canning continue on their road to recovery as they look to return in the coming weeks. The Galway captain is expected to be back in action before Canning, but both have a few weeks to go in their rehabilitation yet.
