So who's it going to be will the defending champs Meath make it two in a row? will Dublin cause a slight upset and win a competition that they surprisingly don't usually do well in? Or how about Kildare with all our youth coming through can we upset the two big guns? Or how about Westmeath or Laois will ? No only joking about them last two, a three horse race who's it going to be

Forgetting colleges like DCU that have a good record.

Pressure on Jim Gavin big time to deliver the one we all want.

The "Gavin Out" banners won't be long in coming if he fails again.

Andy's first competitive game, honestly I don't think I have been this excited in a while, not for game itself but what it means, a new era under one of the great managers. A return to Meath grit, and tenacity. The results will come, however we must be patient, there is a lot of work to be done in Meath, the raw talent is there, they now have the expertise to harness that. It wont happen over night, but by end of Andy 3 years and renewal Meath will be back to where we belong. I ask everyone who can to attend navan tomorrow for the start of this exciting journey and to give management and players a huge response when they take to the field.

I actually don't care who wins it,that part of it means nothing.

You warnt saying that last year ziggy when you claimed it was the start of something special for Meath, anyway one win from one for the lillies let's make winning a habit.

I said winning the OBC was the start of something special for Meath??? I HIGHLY doubt that.

Sorry mate you have me mixed up with someone else.No way would I have said that, and someone agrees because they gave you a thumbs down..

Anyway I'm not sure how Meath will do this year,it is a process. No doubt the setup is more professional and I know they have been working very hard over the last few months.I hope to see a tougher, fitter Meath side and then take it from there.
How do you think Kildare will do?

Good win for an extremely experimental Dublin team against DCU. I don't think there was any player that had ever played Championship used today. Maybe Ciarán Reddin got a few minutes once though so I'm not sure.

I don't know how strong the DCU team was though to be fair.

Big win for Meath and plenty of scores, its January so no one going to get ahead of themselves but as starts to a new year go I'll take it that's for sure

can you give us the side Mes?

According to the match tracker, Evan Comerford saved a DCU penalty - was he in goals for Dublin (and am I right in presuming it's not the same EC as played for Tipp last year?)

Were talking Leinster at least this year. All-Ireland maybe not this year, but within the next 3 years .

Great win for Meath, yes its early January but a great start for Andy, and well done to Graham on been named captain. Wicklow were shocking, but you can only play what's in front of you. Totally new style from Andy great mixture of attack and defending, covering lots of space, plus he has unearthed a few very nice player.
Onwards and upwards

Really impressive first outing from the Dubs today. Thought Niall Walsh in particular was fantastic. Jayo Whelan also impressed on his return in midfield. Conor McHugh is a fantastic talent. Has so much about him too.

On a sidenote, I was really really impressed with the crowd at PP today. Didn't expect an awful lot considering the experimental team and basing it on previous years when we have been playing infront of a couple of hundred in the first round of the OB cup.

I like that, hopefully more of the same on Wednesday night.
