Does anyone know what date the G.A.A have now set aside for a potential second replay?I persume it would be the following weekend - oct. 7 or 8. edu (Mayo) - Posts: 28 - 19/09/2016 21:51:16 1916662 Link 0 |
I'm open to correction on this, But if the replay ends a draw in 70 minutes it goes to ET, and if its a draw after ET only then would it go to another replay. Is that right ? waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 19/09/2016 22:17:17 1916675 Link 0 |
If at 70 mins it's a draw again I believe there'll be 2 x 10 minute periods of extra time. If at the end of the additional 20 mins it's still a draw, then it goes to a 3rd game.

I remember in 96 on the sunday game Michael Lester said that they would play until there was a winner at the start of the replay. Is still the case? gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 19/09/2016 23:23:38 1916699 Link 0 |
Yes you are correct if drawn in 70 mins, 30 mins (15 per side) extra time will be played. Only afterwards if still drawn is there a replay.

think it's 10 a side. Don't think it'll go on infinitely tho - the GAA are specialists in making up rules on the spot to suit the calendar, agendas, etc. A sigerson game a few years ago went to penalties, something like that, or a "next score wins" could happen - even a wee word in the referee's ear, soft free etc. (Probably less likely in a final, but with the round 3 and 4 qualifiers being so close together and the quarter finals being on a bank holiday, I'd say we're unlikely to see a game being allowed to go past 2 replays, 3 games in total). cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4974 - 20/09/2016 10:25:23 1916783 Link 1 |
Thought the rule for 10 mins was changed by Congress couple of years ago to 15 per side. Not saying I'm right and you wrong, maybe it didn't pass , but I know it was on the clar. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 20/09/2016 13:15:48 1916893 Link 0 |
Leitrim played London a loch of years back in the Connacht Championship, and it was all square after 70 mins. They decided there and then to play extra time to save London having to come over for a replay (or maybe Leitrim having to go back over to London again, I dunno). Mustn't have passed - "(d) Extra Time shall consist of two periods of ten minutes each way.", taken from Official Rules 2016 Part 2 link cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4974 - 21/09/2016 14:53:56 1917481 Link 1 |
