Brogan awful flynn awful k mc awful rock awful mdma awful kilkenny awful mannion awful. Cian o sullivan heroic. Small heroic. Fenton heroic. Cooper heroic. But our forwards.... Awful. Mayo lads ye should have done it today. Ww wont be so bad again . Connolly had a great game but that 45 was madness Liamwalkinstown (Dublin) - Posts: 8166 - 18/09/2016 17:31:14 1915719 Link 1 |
What a match! Don't think I have felt the same tension watching Kerry for many years. Mayo could have & should have won. What effort, courage unbelievable. I agree though, Dublin will learn their lessons & come back to replay stronger. Mayo lost their chance today. Don't agree that Kilkenny was awful actually, otherwise yes a lot of the Dublin players had a nightmare today. Cillian O'Connor, on the other hand, class act to get to get the draw. V disappointed Mayo didn't get their hands on Sam today. Don't think they have ever gotten as close in the last 65 yrs & wouldn't fancy their chances for the replay but I truly hope I am wrong!!!! kingdomgirl (Kerry) - Posts: 11 - 18/09/2016 18:03:51 1915750 Link 0 |
Is there an argument to suggest that Brogan and Flynn are declining?

Brogan and flynn have been substandard all year, when roc and McCaffery are not available either ye were going to struggle to get to the heights of last season! Kick outs look vulnerable as well the last couple of games! In saying that ye had the game if it wasn't for the moment of madness by connolly trying to impersonate Maurice Fitz at the end! He will have some explaining to do as to what he was at in the dressing room

Not sure why your Liamwalkinstown! The underdog usually gets one chance - I did think today was going to be Mayo's day but I can guarantee you that while Mayo will again bring a serious challenge in the replay the Dubs will prevail. The favorite nearly always does Really enjoyed the game - looking forward to the 1st of October Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1410 - 18/09/2016 18:30:55 1915771 Link 0 |
Dublin certainly have plenty to chew over after today.McCarthy was a big loss to them but I doubt the 15 who started for Dublin today will start for them on October 1.Jim Gaven very unhappy with the performance and understandably so.Would expect Paddy Andrews and perhaps Paul Mannion to start in the forwards the next day. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2141 - 18/09/2016 18:50:40 1915779 Link 1 |
Awful performance. Should have lost. But yano what... we are still in there. The back to back is still on. Weve 13 days to improve and we will never be as inept as that again. We really wont. Mayo shoulf have won. They blew their chance.

I don't think we were as bad as people are making out. Condorman (Dublin) - Posts: 983 - 18/09/2016 19:24:12 1915795 Link 0 |
Don't agree mayo should have won at all. they lead once in the game at 2 points to nil, after we got the first goal we were always ahead and level throughout the match. Was out poorest performance since Donegal in 2014 yet we still were the ones pushing ahead the whole time and had Kilkenny been allowed take that sideline ball at the end instead of Connolly kicking a 1/20 shot from the sideline we could well have either held the ball till whistle or worked a scoring chance. hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 18/09/2016 19:36:39 1915804 Link 1 |
I love being right Wasn't sure Dublin would win, wasn't sure mayo would win , but 100% sure it would be won by a point either side if anyone did.No one did . GameOfTyrones (Tyrone) - Posts: 469 - 18/09/2016 19:38:18 1915806 Link 0 |
Usually would agree with Dubs if they were better but I'm sorry ,watching that as a neutral mayo totally 100% out played ye,if not for own goal ye would have been I serious bother ,worst performance I've seen by a Dublin team for 6 years

Brogan,Flynn,Kmac, MDMA and Rock were very poor - I thought Kilkenny had a reasonable game in terms of carrying the ball at pace and distributing but on a few occasions should have had more bottle to shoot - Connolly was very well marked but contributed a lot covering back and forced a few turnovers - was lucky to be on the pitch though as could have had a black in first half and red in second. ruanua (Donegal) - Posts: 4966 - 18/09/2016 20:57:28 1915872 Link 0 |
Just a bad day won't happen next time, Mayo drew and yet so many Dubs were off their game, won't happen again. IMO anyteam that relise on the likes of MacAuley will find the going tough in the middle of the park. He is at best a good club player, the rest Borgan, Flynn, Kilkenny, MacManamen, Rock just had a bad day.

You can chalk that down and add mdma to that list. Dubs overhyped after beating a very average Kerry an carrying a few passengers were dere 4 da taking 2day. If Gavin doesn't drop a few lads I'd fancy Mayo next day..

Gavin has big decisions for next day - he has options. Dublin will not be as bad the next day. Fortunate to be still in it - Mayo scored 2 goals for them. theduke66 (Dublin) - Posts: 334 - 18/09/2016 21:21:23 1915897 Link 0 |
Agreed. And we still didn't lose. I'm a glass half full man. Convinced we will get the job done next day out. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 18/09/2016 21:29:13 1915904 Link 0 |
Brogan has been poor all year , cant see him starting next day.

Really weird feeling to leave croker after leading by 5 and then 3 to feel like we got out of jail with a draw. Have to credit mayo, they got an awful right today tactically and have added a little bit of cynicism to their game. Definitely things for us to work on and possibly a few big calls by Jim for the replay. Does he stick or twist with a few players that are not performing. Obviously he will have a serious review of the game and go from there. I thought John small and Brian Fenton were immense today. Possibly we need to throw a little curve ball in for the replay and I think we should go with eoghan o gara at full forward, speed up our play and go a little more direct. We are still in it, still have a chance to go back to back so not a whole lot has changed. Mayo for all the plaudits that they will get for their commitment and perseverance did not win. Gavin will make very very few changes. For instance as much as I cannot stand MacAuley he will start him, and Brogan and Rock.

Possibly , drama game for the neutral anyway ,surpassed mists expectations, more of the same in two weeks, looking forward to Dublin's response
