Where's Pat Hickey when you need him ...

Seriously though, shabby treatment.

I fear that this sort of situation will persist as long as the ladies games remain independent of the GAA, given that most of the All-Ireland tickets are distributed through clubs and county boards.

Cora Staunton does have a ticket for Sunday's game, btw, it's some of her team mates who are short. But I agree that they should have an option to buy them, given their sacrifice for the green and red. Though perhaps this would then be the thin end of the wedge, as women's club footballers could ask why their dedication wouldn't merit the same treatment and so on.

I would also like to say that it's not just the ladies that end up losing out due to the vagaries of the GAA's allocation system: many dedicated GAA people fall through the cracks as supply always outstrips demand.

That should obviously be "demand outstrips supply" ;)

Ok where does it stop? Should Mayo minors and u21s get them? Should all Mayo hurling teams get them?

Did the OP actually read the article where Staunton is discussing the ticket issue because if they did they'd see she does have a ticket.

As an aside, is there any sign of the LGFA being integrated into the GAA? Remember vaguely hearing about this some time ago, but wouldn't be surprised if there would be big opposition to such a move.

Unfortunately being a club member does not mean you are guaranteed a ticket.

Exactly. You often hear the "if you're a member of a club, you'll be alright" line trotted out, but it's not always the case. Castlebar Mitchels have over 900 members but only 160 tickets, and I'm sure several clubs in Dublin have the same situation. Supply will always be hopelessly inadequate for finals, and especially finals involving Dublin or Mayo.

What is the justification for TDS being allocated tickets? Why shouldn'the they have to source their own tickets? As for senators, I'd give them 'the road' not tickets.

The GAA should build a 200000 all seater stadium in Carlow that way nobody would miss out.

You'll never hear it aired publicly, but Inwould have thought it was to ensure that the GAA retains political influence and outreach at the highest level of national politics. I had never heard of members of the Oireachtas being entitled to All-Ireland tickets before, and I'd say more than a few people at GAA HQ are annoyed at Mulherin this weekend for letting that into the public domain.

Would Mayo hurlers not be more entitled to a ticket???? One is a GAA affiliated game while Ladies football isn't and has their own separate structures which they jealously guard when it suits them. If Cora Staunton is a member of a GAA club then she can apply for a ticket like other club members but not sure I agree that she us automatically entitled to a ticket as the sport she plays isn't affiliated to the GAA.

What a load of old rubbish cora is the most successful footballer in mayo history. I am sure the hurlers, minor and under 21 footballers get tickets as the should but so should the ladies footballers.

Yeah , these people should get tickets before everyone else , they aren't just supporters of Mayo Gaa they are Mayo GAA .

All the way from Mayo underage right up to the u-21s and ladies . Why should TDs and sponsors have more rights to tickets than these people who bust their neck for their county

Agreed. One comment, when a county is successful, people who never go to a gaa match seem to wind up with tickets, and how do touts access tickets for major gaa matches, they must originate with clubs?
