Sean Cavanagh Decision

(Oldest Posts First)

One of the all time greats and has a massive decision to make on his inter county future but surely he should be asking Mickey Harte if Tyrone are going to play that puke football again next year? if so my advice Sean is to walk away now that rubbish has been figure out by the better teams and your just wasting a year of your life at that game. Hopefully Tyrone change for the better and we see Sean again next season. Either way what a player.

That is a bit unfair on Tyrone who have made steady progress this year and won Ulster for the first time in 6 years. Fair enough they need to have a more expansive attacking game and sort out a full time free taker but these issues can be solved. They are not that far away.

As for Sean Cavangh, he will definitely find it more difficult to dominate games like he did in previous years, father time just catches up on you. However he still is a great player and can make a massive contribution. Is there a possibility he would take a reduced role like Christy Toye does to great effect for Donegal? He would be some sub to be able to spring from the bench.

Tyrone are capable of playing just about any type of football and probably adjust more than any other team to combat the oppositions style of play.

Sean has never had any issue playing his part for the team and I don't think style of play will have any impact on his decision to continue.

I think he'll give it another year.

The title of this thread is kind of click bait.

Put Sean Cavanagh in the title, a small bit about him to thinly veil the real reason for the post.

To have another rant about puke football and slag a Northern team.

Tyrone weren't exactly playing puke football when they hammered Cavan or Derry this summer or took division 2 to the cleaners.

He will play another year. As for puke football, Tyrone may puke their way beyond the quarters next year and perhaps meet the dubs in the semi. That would be an interesting match up.

I'm glad I'm not the only 1 who has noticed this.
Clondalkin is an expert at giving lads a patt on the back while also giving them a booth up the ****.
He's obviously bored and is looking to do a spot of fishing. .

Think people need to lay off clondalkin if I'm honest.

Everyone likes to relax before an all Ireland final. Some will read a book, some will spend time with family.... Obviously Clondalkin likes to take in a bit of fishing.

And clearly, Thanks to his practice in the last 5 or 6 years, he manages to catch a bit too

:)

Well done man

You comparing Sean Cavanagh to Christy Toye?

I think the difference in the amount and the sheer quality of point produced in the Ulster final by either man said all you need to know about that comparison

He will give it one more year no doubt in that . Our team will just be clicking in all the right places by summer next year , the league will tell a lot ..but hopefully Sean and the rest will be pucking our puke ,crap ,defensive boring football all over the Dublin come the end of the Autumn next year.

Must be a poor enough sort of life, posters who continually stew in a chamber pot of their own bitterness. More to be pitied than laughed at, really.

Hope big Sean stays on for another year.
Like vast majority of Tyrone followers I hope we play football next year not rugby league / basketball.

Aye , I reckon he will give it one last blast . Mickey would want a bit more open play like you say but I'm positive for next year ,90% sure kavanagh included .

No I was not comparing the ability of the two players. On other threads about who the best player in the past 30 years is, I always go for Sean Cavanagh, a truly great player. What I was trying to convey was that he could prolong his career like Toye by being an impact player with a reduced training schedule. I believe this happened with Peter Canavan at the of his career as well, he wouldn't play the full game. He couls easily play another few years.

I am thinking different to the rest of you. I think he's going and just breaking it gently. He is a brilliant footballer but I doubt we have seen the last of him in a Tyrone jersey.

My, totally unbiased, opinion is that he should retire straight away and take Mickey Harte with him. Peter Harte also if he can manage it as well :).

Any pace he has lost is made up in the fact he has become the leader of that Tyrone team.

Sean 3 All-Ireland medals is enough (except when you are a Dub) ...go son go :)

Sean is going to be able to manage his availability no doubt for next year. He owes Tyrone nothing and he has been one of the finest footballers for over a decade now.
