Great game but there were numerous off-the-ball wrestling matches throughout the game. Thankfully the ref and commentators kept the whole thing moving on.

Maybe this is the place to highlight the great pieces of action in the game. Two for me that really stand out were the perfectly executed shoulder on Walsh early on that not only stopped an almost certain goal but stopped even the handy point option. The other was a 60 yards pass from Moran in the second half from inside his own 21, landing it perfectly in the chest of a Kerry attacker racing towards the Dublin goal - it was like an American football quarterback pass. A game of many outstanding moments but these stood out for me as we see them so rarely in the modern game.

If there's one thing that annoys me about great games it's they are always immediately used as a stick to beat other games/teams. What's the point? As Brolly says there was plenty of off the ball stuff yesterday which is grand, it happens, but lets not pretend it didn't.

Just because Dublin were challenged doesn't mean it was beautiful. We would have seen the exact same thing as Dublin vs Donegal if not for cluxtons two mistakes.

I'm really disappointed with Kerry. Taking Geaney off for Marc O'Se is one of the most negative substitutions I can remember.

Dublin have almost gone like Barcelona with Xavi, Iniesta and Messi. Team won't actually come out and attack against them, which means you have to hope for a perfect defensive performance.

Dublin aren't as good as Barca relative to the competition and I think Mayo should go out and attack them rather than sitting back. That said, fair play to dublin. They are setting the standard by playing the best and most positive football.

Was great to see Cormac Costello get a black card for playing the game the way it's meant to be played, and also to see all the discussion about black cards and late hits on and off the ball that never actually occured in this flawless example of the beautiful game.

What about Lacey's pass to Murphy in the 2012 final ?

Was it a good ball ?

It was indeed TRS but I hope you are not suggesting that was the last good kick pass by a Donegal player?!? There have definitely been a few since then, though I agree with your overall view on other threads that yer style of play is dreadful you are exaggerating by going back to 2012! This probably isn't the thread for that discussion either, it's more one for the great pieces of action in the modern game, both attacking and defending.

Great match yesterday alright but Dublin and Kerry did serve up a forgettable final last year. Generally games between the top sides are good ones, especially with so much at stake. To be fair to Dublin they play great football and have been involved in a lot of great games in recent years. I really think gaelic football is great to watch, even if too defensive at times. Games like soccer are really boring when compared to gaelic football, not much happening for most of the game.

Cullen and Knocknagree was a great game too. Two tiny villages on the Kerry border playing each other in the North-west Cork (Duhallow region) junior A final in a packed Rockchapel (another tiny village on the Limerick border) on Saturday evening. The game ebbed and flowed and eventually Knocknagree came late to win by two points. Brilliant stuff- what the GAA is all about!

Ha ha . You've me got there .

Our style sadly is dreadful and I'm the first to acknowledge this . I have had enough .

There are others though just as guilty .
