Serious outbreak of yerra virus here

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The 'Dublin Kerry' thread is badly infected with the yerra virus. Perhaps admin might consider closing that thread down lest the virus spreads into other threads. The symptoms: continuous references to 'the blue juggernaut', 'the blue machine', . One poster is in the final stages of the disease . He actually says 'yerra we will travel in hope more than expectation'. Here's another one: "At the end of the day we're a rural county on the southwest coast of Ireland. We'll hope for the best. Ciarraí abú!". The disease does not discriminate between the sexes. One poor lassie tells us that 'Dublin will win in a canter'. Another poster is waxing apocalyptic about the rise of 'the four regions'.
Yerra generally signifies a resigned acceptance to one's fate or their county team's fate, as 'f**k it, what happens will happen' attitude. The particular strain of the virus that is prevalent on these boards is more finely nuanced. Their is an ironic flavour to it as in 'sure let's keep telling these Dubs they are great' sure don't they love a bit of acknowledgment from the Kingdom, the poor craturs. And maybe, just maybe, by some kind of alchemy the virus will do its work and spawn a complacency into the mindset of the Dublin team and set them up for an almighty fall.

I think it is reasonable to suggest, as I have, that Kerry supporters are traveling more in hope than expectation this time around.

It's not cute hoorism, its just the fact that you are the All-Ireland Champions, you have beaten us twice in the last 11 months and really none of us know where this Kerry team is at or how good or bad they will be on Sunday.

But yerra God is Good and you never know what can happen sure didn't David even beat Giolath once ;D

Dublin symptoms of the disease include a lot of "bleedin'".

Dublin are weaker than they were this time last year i.e.
Rory, Jack and probably still James

+

Defending All Ireland champion's i.e.
Proven hindrance to Dublin and many other teams who have won the AI the previous year

=

It's now or never for this Kerry team, or at least until they are able to start building a new team around their underage success in maybe 3-4 years
(I have no doubt that Kerry will be winning at least 3 AI's in the next decade)

If Kerry lose this one it will be 4 loses in a row and considering the above disadvantages to Dublin that would really be a sickner for them IMO

I'd say their fans are as nervous as hell about losing this one. It would be a very hard loss to take and put together with the last 3

They'll never have experienced the likes of it before against Dublin, it will not be a pleasant feeling for them.

They'll be throwing the kitchen sink at Dublin and may the best team win

7 National Titles since 2011 has left me a deeply satisfied supporter, so I'm going to go and really enjoy this game

Dublin have won it all - completing a clean sweep last year and a treble year in 2013

Because of this it's the first time probably ever in my life that I've felt so relaxed about a big game

I'm going to go and enjoy it all for a bloody change!

Last post before the game, so all the best to the two teams and the two sets of supporters

And once again... May the best team win with no whinging after the event!!!

Oh dear, this 'Yerra' nonsense or should I say myth as it has been made up by outsiders to try and demean Kerry people.

As regards 'nervous as hell' we are in the sense we could get absolutely demolished by 15-20 points as Dublin didn't play that well in the League Final and we know what happened then, if as I know they will be much more polished and razor sharp which is bad news for us.

I could be wrong but I think Dublin fans are still sick about the Donegal loss in 2014 and can't bear losing another game no-one in Ireland is predicting them to lose. The Dublin fans feel that should be going for 4 in a row right now and can't countenance losing their28 game unbeaten run to a far inferior team in their Coliseum once again. Of course there is nothing stopping them doing 4 or even 5 in a row once they have got through the formality of the next few weeks.

Dublin are a weaker team than this time last year and haven't played a team that will have a real go at them but that will change this Sunday.

It's Kerry's to lose.

Dublin have nobody to blame but themselves. They fell on their own banana skin in 2014. Will they do the same again this year? Time will tell!

I detest the words juggernaut, complacency, coliseum, behemoth, masters, aristocrats, currency on which they're judged, neglected, untested, vulnerable... I could go on, but the nonsense on here from all sides (only a few people, obviously) is insufferable
