You have to say that Brolly makes a lot of sense sometimes.

From a Tyrone perspective this year ended on a particularly depressing note.

We have developed a young, energetic, fit and skillful team who blew some teams away this year. I genuinely thought that we were on a inevitable collision course with the Dubs in an All Ireland final but instead we retreated into a fearful safety first approach and limped off the stage.

I think Mickey needs to seriously learn some lessons from this year if we are to contend for an All Ireland anytime soon.

This basically applies to all teams bar Dublin and Tipp now.

Can't argue with that article. Personally I would rather see tyrone by 5-6 points by trying to win the game instead of losing by 1 point while trying to snatch a late second draw.

Tyrone need to find a better balance

Although there have been massive strides made, winning Ulster and the recent U-21 All Ireland win

You lack natural free scoring forwards and certainly the system that you currently play can sometimes impede the forwards you do have

Forwards are best when they are scoring, that's what they feed off.

Tyrone lack goal scorers at present, you would have made an AI final in 2015 if you had someone that could clinically finish off moves

Tyrone opened up Kerry for fun last year - creating at least 4-5 clear goal scoring opportunities and none were taken

Even against Mayo, a team who have leaked goals against the better teams, one of their main problems in fact, looked iron tight at times but Tyrone still created a glaring goal opportunity but was once again not taken.

Tyrone have been there or there abouts, but until they find a better balanced team, with quality all over the pitch, Tyrone are going to struggle to win the ultimate prize

Look at the forward options that Tyrone enjoyed in the 00's... Absolute superstar forwards, as good as we've seen.

That's the balance that you currently don't have!

"Fear is Killing Gaelic Football"

I said before the Dublin v Donegal game that the Dublin FB line is there to be exposed this year!

But it will take a team with the gonads to go and exploit it rather than concentrate on trying to stop us playing

Donegal despite being a man up, and clawing back a goal against the run of play, that changed the momentum in their favour for a time didn't go all out to take advantage of it, they stuck to this rigid, stop them from scoring mentality and Dublin were able to setup to hold onto what they had and then counter when the opportunity opened up

The game was there but they didn't have the gonads...! That fear you speak of was present.

The team that beats Dublin will go at them and find a better balanced performance, and they'll have to risk leaving themselves a little open at times, I'm telling you that if the ball and commitment is right, that there's goals to be had against the current FB line

But it's going to take a team with the gonads to exploit it, but this myth around Dublin seems to be causing a lot of confusion with managers around the country!

All year we've watched teams setup defensively against us, all year, almost every single game has followed the same tactics being deployed

Dublin are completely versed at setting up against that now, we have it sussed. It will take something different to beat Dublin... offensive commitment and a pair of you know what's!

I agree with you to a certain extent. We do need to develop more out and out forwards.

But you have to look at the game against Mayo. We were a point down with 3-4 minutes to play and we still had 13 men behind the ball. It wouldn't have mattered if we had a modern day Peter Canavan and Stephen O'Neill up front as we just didn't play the type of game which allowed forwards to get into it.

It is the fear of not losing the game which cost us. I really thought this team and management had grown out of that way of thinking and playing but I doubt not.

Addiction to systems is not a good idea. I didnt understand why donegal didnt go for it against dublin or tyrone this year when we had to and were in with a serious shout. And against monaghan last year in the ulster final, when we did make our move it was too late. Not to mention the all ireland final of 2014. We got ourselves right back into the game only to sit back in formation once again. It is frustrating to watch. I hope like other posters have said, that we learn from this and move on from it.

Not just donegal either. Roscommon were very guilty of it in the connaught final. You need to be able to mix defensive with attacking.
