Tipp v Galway

Can't see a thread on this!

Fear a repeat of last year. We definitely have the fire power to beat them but I hope the lay-off doesn't catch us out.

I think it caught Kilkenny on Sunday imo they didn't expect that intensity for 70 mins from Waterford.
I'm slightly worried but I have a funny feeling we cud win this one.
No distractions since the Munster final and I know they were away last weekend in a training camp so focus is 100%.
If we stop Joe Canning we're half way there. For some reason he plays some of his best hurling against us.
I know Galway have 5 other great forwards but Canning is contributing a lot this year in scoring and also bringing others into play.
Decision to play Bubbles or not is key from Tipp point of view. Personally I'd start him we need scoring forwards in a big pitch like Croker.

Ah Roundball, can we not have blind optimism. I hear you though, Galway are playing very well again this year. They have been eerily quiet too.

There is literally very little between these two team. Donohue will surely have some good Intell to bring back with him.

The league game was a draw too. I am really looking forward to it cos I think it will be a great game.

Given the formline Tipp are rightly favourites for this one.
That said its all on the day and a Galway win would not surprise me one little bit.
Hope its a cracker.

I think galway pull this away by a 2 pointer but there main players must be in top form to do it . I hope its another classic like the waterford killkenny match .

Considering the potential for this game to be one of the summer's hurling highlights I've noticed and being surprised by the complete lack of chat surrounding it.

Too close to tell, but going on the overall year's form, I'd say Tipp by a few points.

Hard to predict... With both teams with new managers they seem as though they haven't gelled quite yet and are in that "getting to know you" stage, will see soon enough where they are at. Should be entertaining... talent wise they are pretty even .

Seems to be the way with most hurling matches this summer for whatever reason.

You don't come onto HS to engage in hurling chat.

I'll comment on the match tomorrow but I'd like to see Hoganstand having a separate Hurling forum or something like that as they threads disappear to regularly off the page because there is so much more of an interest in football talk

Certainly not the main forum page to be sure.

It does indeed, which is a shame when you consider that the majority of the threads on football are focusing on the negatives of that code and tend to get fairly nasty and personal quickly. I grew up on the border between the hurling and football parts of Galway and have always enjoyed both, but the way football is going (with a few honorable exceptions like Tipps dream year this year) it's hard to get too excited about it.

Anyway, here's to a cracking weekend of hurling. I suspect it'll be another Tipp v KK final, but the truth of it is there's not much between the four teams and both games could go either way.

G'wan the Tribes!

Barry Kelly is the ref.
Best ref there is in my view.

He wouldn't win a popularity contest in Kilkenny but I think he is the only good referee.

He was in charge of this fixture last year and did a very good job.

Galway need a good start. Jason Flynn could give it to them. A quick goal would settle nerves. Also Hanbury needs a good game in the backs, as does Daithi Burke. I would not put Burke on S.Callanan.

Why not popular on Noreside. Is it because he referees applying the GAA rules?
