Just a tip of the hat to a man who had a bit of a freak year last year, with many writing obits on his career, at times I also wondered. Liamwalkinstown (Dublin) - Posts: 8166 - 09/08/2016 15:00:30 1898852 Link 0 |
Good keeper. Not sure if the short kick plan was actually his or managements. Either way not sure you really need to start a new thread about him every week. Also John OLeary was a better keeper.

Would echo this. . .actually thought he sold himself badly for McHugh's goal when McGee had defenders closing across on him.

Impossible to compare Cluxton with O'Leary. Both had two very different roles on the team. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 09/08/2016 19:52:14 1899051 Link 0 |
But Donal Og changed the way a very successful Cork team played. Doesn't mean he was better than Cummins or Fitzhenry. The media have really blinded some spectators in their constant praise of Cluxton and I'm starting to think it's purely cuz he plays for Dublin. As pointed out above, he kicked some poor lockouts Saturday. He also kicked his "accurate" ones to completely unmarked men in 20 yards of free space. It was even revealed in the news just last week that Dublin's system wasn't of Cluxtons making, it was their goalkeeping coach in 09/10 who implemented it. All round I would say O'Leary was a better keeper. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5012 - 09/08/2016 22:04:46 1899152 Link 0 |
