Hurling county shows how it's done

(Oldest Posts First)

In Tipperary the footballers have as much of a following as the camogie or junior hurlers. They get bigger crowds at minor hurling matches.
Yesterday they showed the third most successful football county how to play football the correct way.
Hopefully all the other football counties will look at tipp and turn away from the defensive crap they are currently peddling and actually kick the ball to midfield and maybe even kick it into the full ward line.
Tipp have to play with style to entice lads away from hurling. Football counties take note

The Kerry hurlers got some notable results this year. Both codes are doing well in the province.

Ulster can't provide 1 McCarthy Cup team at present.

I keep saying the Christy Ring finalists should be allowed into the hurling qualifiers along with 3rd and 4th from Leinster Qualifier Group.

Kerry, Carlow, Meath and Antrim should have been drawn against provincial quarter-finalists Cork, Wexford, Westmeath and Laois in a 1st round qualifier.

The additional qualifier round seems a natural progression for the current setup.

Not even Moses could have parted that Galway defence as wide as they did yesterday. Tipp have found a system that worked for them, doesn't mean it will work for everyone else.

Well done to Tipperary yesterday a brilliant display to set up their greatest victory in 90 odd years.

Think it's also only fair to also mention the dedicated work Kerry people have done trying to spread the gospel in our hurling neighbours.

Liam Kearns achieved a near miracle with Limerick over a decade ago and they really should have won a Munster title back then.

Now he has worked his oracle with Tipperary, following up the great groundwork done by John Evans over the past few years.

Was delighted to see Tipperary finally build on their underage success and I'll be cheering them on in the Semi. Who knows it could be a Kerry/Tipp final yet!

What a win for a great GAA county.

Up D Premier!

Earlier in this thread Legend stated that "both codes are doing well" in Munster.

Building on this observation, surely the next step is that Legend should now be setting off a new Hogan Stand thread demanding an end to the rigged, sorry seeded, draw that persists in Munster's football championship.

Surely Kerry Gaels would want to see a level playing field in this brave new world?

This year has been a good year for a move away from defensive football I feel.

Other than Galway picking up Connacht the most defensive teams have had disappointing seasons.

Donegal have made the quarters but that's after not retaining Ulster, losing to Tyrone for the first time in a while and they got past Cork by opening up a bit.

Some of the poorest games of late have been All Ireland and Provincial finals. Could be that the occasion gets to teams somewhat or there's maybe a bit of a tendency to try not to lose the game rather than go out to win it.

Tipperary have earned a seeding for next year. The Munster seeding system is an equal opportunities provider.
