Weaker counties not getting decisions at HQ

(Oldest Posts First)

Why is it that referees give the benefit of the doubt to the bigger teams and not to the weaker counties. Clare have had an early yellow card for nothing and Donaghy has a bad tackle on a Clare player without even a tick in book. Kerry can also tackle harder than Clare and not give away a free.

Lots of cynical stuff from Kerry. Blocking runners off the ball, tripping them and pulling Clare players to ground. Unpunished.

I tried to start a thread on that and it looks like the admins wouldn't allow it through. Cork were at the same crap yesterday.

Donaghy at it again - should have at least a yellow ... if he had another county jersey on him - he would be booked

Ara Kerry have been at it for years now. They will foul constantly if you break a line. Today see JOD and David Moran today to name a few. They are by far the most cynical team on the go. Foul foul foul but very few cards come their way. You could see the Clare players complain to ref after JOD foul (no card?) Donaghy plays by different rules with the support of refs.

Agree he does get very thick in September - it's the blue jersey that yanks his chain.

Kerry should have had 2 extra yellow and 1 black card in first half. Many time the Clare forwards were fouled and play allowed to go on. The first goal of the second half come from a Clare forward being fouled resulting in no frees. The refs in all the matches must be 'told' to give all the soft frees to the stronger counties- that's what it looks like in all the matches I have seen. Also Kerry players slowing up the Clare frees in front of Ref without anything being done about it what's new!

I don't think they are told to act this way but it is an undeniable fact that all refs., in games between stronger and weaker counties, are very quick to punish the weaker team whilst being extremely lenient on the actions of the stronger team. I think it happens in most sport. Some posters suggest that Kerry have developed the art of fouling under Fitzmaurice, but Kerry have always been masters of the dark arts.

Deegan not even willing to give a nailed on penalty to Clare at end when game was over. What was his umpires looking at? If it was a 1 point game to Clare and the incident happened at other end - certain Kerry penalty.

Usual story with Kerry. Referee watches TV and remembers the golden years of Kerry football. Listens to Kerry pundits taking about how stylish Kerry are. He then referees a kerry match thinking they play too much good football to go around fouling. Hence no cards for the Kerrymen. They might send the Healy Raes to the dail but there are no mugs in Kerry football.
