Between MC on RTE and PE on sky..... Are the channels trying to outdo each other or something......? Shocking stuff

I agree! MC is like a first year trying to hang out with the Leaving Certs - always trying to please! Unfortunately he also has a history of not knowing the rules.
For me, there's a tv camera and a commentator - the co-commentator should be trying to add something different that we can't see ourselves - who's picking up who, tactical set-up etc. If they're a past player or manager, maybe trying to give the rest of us plebs some insight into that level of game. You know a pundit isn't up to much when they're harping on about the ref the whole time - easy pickings when you have nothing else to say.
There's also an overkill of replays for run of the mill scores, so much that so that we miss a lot of the puckouts/kick outs which are impure at in themselves.
The worst of them all is NE, former hurling great, who can't be heard half of the time and whose contribution the rest of the time often extends to wisdom such as "the ball is played in to x, who puts it over the bar for a score for y."

MC sounds like they've invited the local priest in to co comentate, softly spoken but --t. Oisin McConville is one of the very few id rate as co commentator.

Paul Earley is awful on sky I also notice a trend with him, that he will defend every decision a referee makes, no matter how obvious it is, that the referee is wrong.

Watching RTE right now - a total mess as usual with Brolly and Whelan trying to talk over each other!

Best co-commentator Michael Duignan! Has something interesting and informative to say every time he speaks!

Was Dick Clerkin co-commentator for Mayo vs Westmeath? Whoever it was, he was very good.

Like Duignan's usual comment on a full-blooded tackle; 'I didn't see much in that', as the strike player gathers up his brains off the ground and stuffs them back in his helmet.

Our lads my playing well notwithstanding, he is the most condescending man. It's a wonder he didn't manage the counties he had to multiple All-Irelands, he knows so much!

Carr is bad but Martin Carney now in next game - now I think I will be muting the TV.

Tommy car " Kerry have learned nothing from Today's game" mind you Clare opened their defence up a few times, Martin carney also believed tipp number 6 should have walked the tackle on Bradshaw. Comical stuff plus the núacht thing

As an aside, whatever happened to Anthony Tohill as an SG pundit.
A class act when he was there.

Anything negative I try to post about co-commentators seems to go astray somehow. Can I just say that Dick Clerkin doesn't keep talking even when he has nothing to say and the others ( I am gritting my teeth ) are doing their best.

Yes muting the sound is the best solution when MC is on. Today when a Tipp forward was pushed in the square and kicked the ball wide after receiving the push, he glossed over the incident. Get Canning had to draw his attention to it and say " Was than not a push in the back?" He responded " It may have been.........but look at the wonderful fielding by blah blah blah.." The man puts bland into bland and never says anything even remotely interesting.
