In a year when the so called traditional midfielder has vanished then what about Kieran Donaghy? Since February he has been the best midfielder in the country with his exhibition of high fielding and exceptional work rate covering every blade. He is looking leaner and meaner and playing the best football of year. Is he a shoe for all star and possibly player of year with semi final coming up in 3 weeks? Don't think so. There are quite a few midfielders ahead of him right now. Fenton, Brennan, Colm Cav, Mattie Donnelly, Paul Conroy & MacNiallais to name a few. I've a feeling Donaghy will be found out in the wide open Croke Park pitch.

Peter Harte has arguably been the best player in this year's championship. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4225 - 30/07/2016 06:59:00 1892183 Link 1 |

Donaghy isn't even the best midfielder in Kerry let alone Ireland. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 30/07/2016 10:12:42 1892217 Link 1 |
STAR destroyed Brennan in the Munster semifinal so much so that Colm Collins had to move Brennan off him, after that Brennan got a small bit of joy.

Star is not a Kerry standard midfielder. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 30/07/2016 12:04:59 1892247 Link 0 |

to be fair, players performances up until this stage means very little going on previous years all star awards. Donaghy has performed in a semi final and final before and nicked in to take an all star over others who were shoe ins at this stage of things. The player of the year would be a tougher one to take of the back of 2 games and id suspect his influence wouldnt be as great as others on the kerry team at this stage of his career. Also considering Dublin are hot favouates to retain Sam it would be a real long shot. SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2385 - 30/07/2016 13:16:17 1892261 Link 0 |
