The HS Clique - myth/reality?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I've seen this mentioned a few times now

I remember when I started posting here I used to say the same thing! You have plenty to say but you mightn't get the same recognition

So is it just a thing when you start posting and feel a bit left out, or is something altogether more tin foil hat brigade stuff thinking there's an agenda against you!

For me it's only natural to back up posters that you share a similar opinion with, and that's most common amongst your fellow county men/women, but even at that there's been some right civil war posts between fellow county men/women and we've all been guilty of that!

So if there is a clique on HS... perhaps it's more down to simple recognition between posters who have been here for a while...

The way I've always approached it, it only makes sense to threat everyone with respect from the start and then wait to see if they deserve it...

You'll always have some that are looking for conflict, or have an agenda but overall I think there's plenty on here with very well informed opinions and if you're not willing to recognise that then what's the point of contributing at all, we're all here because we enjoy GAA...

IMO there is no clique...

I'm reading posts on these boards, almost daily, for over 10 years. I would be very familiar with many of the users and the kind of things they say.

Don't comment often especially since I stopped playing for my club, but even when I do I rarely get a direct reply - on the main forum at least.

To answer the question, i think it is a myth. Certainly people back up others from time to time but it never looked like a clique to me. If you do feel that way I'd suggest you may be taking it a little too seriously.

Not bothered either way and I imagine I'll still be reading everyday for years to come.

I think it is more that people are used to familiar usernames.:
Any new ones you kinda have to suss them out and see if:
1) They are a wind up merchant
2) A person from a proper GAA county like Dublin with loads of glamour, fancy hairstyles, coloured boots and money to boot
3) A person from a fading GAA county like Kerry...(who have managed to play Clare twice in one championship season to keep thier own season alive)
4) A person from a so called weaker county like meath....
5) A person with fair minded opinion and comment on every county and one who is not hung up on rivalries or any biases....whatsoever...

:)

No1 there are far too many Dublin posters on the main page these days. I know jimbo is half of them but could we put a quota of maybe no more than 5 dubs on the main page at any 1 time? :-)

I never even considered the idea that there might be a clique so I don't think there is.

Tomsmith Cavan here

jimbo I fully agree that a click exists with very little airtime given to Cavan people, But we are used being the under dogs. we go away up to Dublin and get fleeced from lock hard to the two collection at the Chapel get as much as youse can from the Cavan men. Probably Hoganstand is based in Dublin because it seems to be very pro Dublin, From Liam away out in Walkinstown to damien the Dub to Hill 16 a few of them post rubbish. So I sat a clique exists and its a Dublin Clique

Yerra there only the vindictive propaganda of Corkonians.

But at least one of them is based on truth: 'How do you recognise a Kerryman in Croke Park? He's the one holding Same Magurie!'

Dublin north, Dublin south, And those of us no longer living in Dublin.. Myself, Liam. Dubbydave, Dubupnorth (if they come back)
