Sky sports getting the best games

(Oldest Posts First)

So far this year all the best matches have been on sky. Galway v Mayo, Donegal v Monaghan, Cork v Dublin in the hurling.

RTE have had poor fare most of the season but of course not helped with Brolly, Spillane & O Rourke talking even the half decent games down.

Next week Cork v Donegal will be on sky & If Donegal win again we're in line for some fireworks.

For the quarter finals RTE will show Kerry against some division 3 side & Galway v Tipp perhaps. Not exactly box office

What could sky be showing the following week?

A double header Tyrone v Mayo followed by Dublin v Donegal. Worthy of the semi finals and they're will be plenty that won't get to see it live. Croker could even sell out for that double header if Donegal can get past Cork

Not complaining myself as I reckon Sky do brilliant coverage with Horan, Jim & Canavan but shame the very best matches won't be seen by the masses in a year everybody is complaining about poor games

Mobdro is your only man for Sky !

In fairness the dates and times that RTE and Sky are probably decided before the season starts. Based on fixtures each can pick the best game available for that slot. Just guessing there. Other than the Ulster championship, so far, the excitement and do-or-die games in the backdoor, have been better than provincial games. The intensity in games will be upped from now in so hopefully all games on RTE or Sky will be well worth watching.

I'm happy for them. They are way more positive in their coverage of our sports. Rte have been a disgrace over the years and don't deserve to get the best.

Not difficult as this years championships in both football and hurling have been poor, I've seen better junior B club games

Sky also don't cut away to show the news too instead of showing some more analysis of the games like rte one are doing.

I don't think it's right that those pensioners, who were avid GAA supporters all their lives, and now in their old age can't physically attend games, may not even be able to watch their county team play on TV. Sky Sports subscription may well be out of their budgets.
