Could be argued the whole provincial-championship setup is a bit of a dead-duck

The Leinster rivals of Dublin Region are lame ducks. County Kilkenny are similarly dominant in hurling. What's happened to Meath and Leinster in football? What's happened to Offaly and Wexford in hurling?

Despite the legal status of the Dublin Region, the term "County Dublin" is still in common usage. Many organisations and sporting teams continue to organise on a "County Dublin" or "Dublin Region" basis. The area formerly known as "County Dublin" is now defined in legislation solely as the "Dublin Region" under the Local Government Act, 1991 (Regional Authorities) (Establishment) Order, 1993, and this is the terminology officially used by the four Dublin administrative councils in press releases concerning the former county area.

Dublin has 4 administrative councils. That's what he's getting at.

However Cork has 2 administrative councils afaik. I think the same is true of Limerick and Galway too. Not sure about Waterford.

When I had a great time living in the big smoke in late 2001, there was an interesting article in the Evening Herald.

We need to get back on topic. Dublin Region's Leinster rivals need to get their own respective houses in order.

Kilkenny go straight into the Leinster hurling semi-finals and there's a qualifier group. Possibly the GAA should allow a qualifier group format in the Leinster football championship:

8 teams in 2 groups of 4. Top 2 in each group advance to Leinster quarter-finals joining 2 seeded quarter-finalists. Have 3 Leinster quarter-finals, with the 3 winners joining the defending champions in the semi-finals.

Leinster council wanted to bring in a group stage and weren't allowed.

It wouldn't really make the championship any more exciting.

Its a cakewalk for Dublin.

I think Leinster will recover in time, probably needs 5-10 years.

It definitely is. However, so is Munster and Connacht (despite what happened this year, it is still not competitive - London, Leitrim, Sligo and NY are miles off the pace).

If you're always going to refer to us as the "Dublin region" could you not also throw in "All Ireland Champions" into the title too every time you mention it??
