Double header in croker is silly why Drag Westmeath back up there....

Its some treck for donegal

Nobody from Cork will bother going

Mayo will probably bring okay support but still a long journey for those mayo people living in the west...

Makes no sense

Derry will have a great advantage playing in Cavan again and it being a lot closer to them than tipperary...

Salthill is a decent choice for the Clare and Roscommon game to be fair.

The GAA head men sometimes baffle me?

"The GAA head men sometimes baffle me?"

Really? It's money. Nothing more nothing less.

Ever wonder why they developed Clones for example and play Ulster finals there? No taxes to the north and all cash in hand (back in the day) the GAA is mainly about $$$$ at HQ level. How this baffles anyone baffles me

With Hyde Park closed I fail to see where else you would play Westmeath v Mayo. Players probably want to play there too. The only gripe I would have is it's a 6pm throw in on a Sat evening which means a late return home for Mayo fans but those are the hits you take...roll with it. It's great to be there.

Correction - we will have at least 100 supporters at that game.

Westmeath Mayo and Cork Donegal could have been a double header in Salthill. I mean with the motorway Galway is only an hour from Athlone (although I do appreciate the traffic issue having to traverse the city) and sure Galway is pretty central for Cork/Donegal. Clare Ros is the first qualifier Salthill has got other than when Galway are playing.

That's a joke from a Tipp point of view, we have been completely ripped off here.

Derry just played in Cavan over the weekend. It's a pitch they are more familiar with anyway as its in their own province.

The logical and fairer venue for this match was Mullingar.

Would agree could have had a double header with the roscommon game in mullingar. Salthill is a nighmare of a game for the roscommon clare game completely unsuitable, I would have sooner went down to Ennis then went over there. If the round 4 games are not double headers then why not let each county toss for home advantage.

Surely clare/roscommon derry/tipp should be a double header in tullomore. Other games should be in croker but why play the game which mayo will win easily second? it should be first and have the two division one teams second.

Its to keep the Mayo crowd in the capital on Saturday night. Travel in big numbers and spend plenty in hotels and pubs

Donegal people will be in Croke Park sooner than Salthill which is a nightmare to get in & out of.

Suppose it's a long way home to Gweedore or Bears after a 6pm throw in in Dublin! Not that Mayo fans from Erris will be lauding the CCCC for this...

Don't understand why these games are in Croker really. I know it's not easy to choose a venue for Cork and Donegal fans. I don't know if Galway would be any easier. Probably not.

Ourselves and Derry on the other hand should be in Croker. Or at the very least Parnell Park or Navan.

4B qualifiers are always in Croke Park. Seems to stem from a GAA idea of having two double headers in Croke Park for the August bank holiday weekend. They are being consistent anyways. It's not looking as if any Leinster county will send Dublin Region into 4A anytime soon to fully test the consistency of 4A qualifiers always being in neutral provincial grounds.

Yeah a double header in tullamore or Mullingar with Clare and Roscommon would have worked better and generated a better atmosphere.

Tullamore is probably a better venue but that little bit further to travel for Derry fans.

Either Leinster venue would have made better sense cos you have two Munster teams and one each from Ulster and Connaught so nobody is getting provincial advantage. A Leinster venue that would never get a provincial semi final or final gets an extra match with a big crowd they wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

Salthill and Cavan have already hosted some big games.

Muckross of course I know the traffic situation can be nightmare but at least the atmosphere would be good as opposed to a flat Croke Park. Also the whole concept of giving neutral provincial grounds games flies in the face of having any round 4 matches at HQ. Mind you Tipp are being done with having to go to Cavan. Mullingar was the obvious choice if it was available.

The triple header sounds a good plan. Cork and Donegal supporters get to see their minors and seniors. Westmeath don't have that far to travel and can motorway it to the capital. We'll have a decent number there.

That'll still leave plenty of empty seats though as a lot of people head away around August Bank Holiday weekend. Maybe the GAA might reduce ticket prices, do a deal on family tickets to take the bare look away! If ye come across any tourists do let them know about the games in Dublin, Galway and Cavan. An ideal opportunity for them to see the second greatest game in the world, after hurling, in hopefully good weather and see how Gael supporters from opposing teams mingle and the craic is mighty.

Some people will find a way to complain about anything. So what happens for example if Mayo & Donegal win and they go on to meet Tyrone & the Dubs in Croke Park 6/7 days later, are you actually saying they would prefer to have played in Salthill or Tullamore 6/7 days previous as opposed to the same surface & environment they are accustomed to. Croke Park is the finest GAA arena we have in Ireland by a country mile and I for one treat it as a blessing when my county gets the opportunity to play there, some counties such as Carlow & Leitrim wait a lifetime for days like this. I genuinely feel its more than just a journey or a burden when your county gets to Croke Park, its one of those in-explainable days in the summer that just don't come around too often.

Agree. Tipp are being shafted big time here...very unfair....they are still good enough to come through though....would have feared Cavan more.
Salthill is also an advantage to Roscommon although not as much.

Makes no sense why a Leinster venue wasn't chosen alright

If you had told me at the start of the year that we had a chance to play Tipp for a QF id would have been happy to play it on the moon. No disrespect, I'm sure they are thinking the same.
