Can someone bring an ounce of clarity to the manner in which the draw is panning out. Some are saying if Donegal beat Cork, Mayo beat Westmeath it could mean a Donegal/Dublin & Mayo Tyrone faceoff, also not sure do results on the other side affect the B side of the draw. sugar.daddy (Mayo) - Posts: 85 - 18/07/2016 10:27:53 1885299 Link 0 |
Yea if Donegal and Mayo win their 4th round qualifiers, Dublin will play Donegal and Mayo will play Tyrone. That's a fact! waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 18/07/2016 10:46:58 1885320 Link 0 |

A and B side are totally independent of each other so what you say is correct. Let's take it one game at a time however.

Donegal defintely play Dublin if they win & Roscommon def play kerry. Anyone know the scenario with Clare? I'm assuming they can meet Kerry again as it wasn't a provincial final? jafallon (Galway) - Posts: 489 - 18/07/2016 10:56:16 1885328 Link 0 |
If Donegal win they will definitely play Dublin. If Westmeath win they will definitely play Tyrone. If Cork and Mayo win there will be a draw to see who plays Dublin and Tyrone benjyyy (Donegal) - Posts: 1422 - 18/07/2016 11:07:26 1885338 Link 0 |
Semi finals will be leinster v munster ...kerry v dublin and ulster v connacht ....tyrone v galway. BUT mayo are the elephant in the room here and assuming they beat westmeath they will play either dublin or tyrone in qf. If donegal beat cork then its automaticalky mayo v tyrone. But if cork win there ll be a draw. Dublin could end up facing the big three mayo kerry tyrone which would make it interesting.my Predicted qf line up though is kerry v derry and Dublin v mayo on one side.Galway v clare. Tyrone v cork on the other Malonemagic (Laois) - Posts: 766 - 18/07/2016 11:10:53 1885341 Link 0 |

If Donegal win they play Dublin. If Donegal win then obviously Mayo play Tyrone if they win. But if Mayo win and Donegal lose, then there will be a draw to see which of Cork or Mayo plays Dublin/Tyrone

If donegal and mayo win, that's correct. If cork and mayo win it's an open draw against dubs or tyrone. Westmeath definitely play tyrone if they win.

Sure Dublin only beat 1 quality team to win the All-Ireland in 2013 and 2015 and it will be the same this year if ye avoid Mayo in the QF. KYTitletown (Kerry) - Posts: 816 - 18/07/2016 13:13:46 1885464 Link 0 |
If Donegal overcome Cork then Dublin v Donegal and Mayo v Tyrone in two tasty last 8 encounters. Dubsfan28 (Dublin) - Posts: 2509 - 18/07/2016 13:20:24 1885474 Link 1 |
Oh yes, its so easy for us compared to the mine-field that is the Leinster Championship that Dublin negotiate every year. Sure yer lucky to make a Q-final at all!!!! 37 and counting.... TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 18/07/2016 13:29:20 1885483 Link 0 |

That was an average Kerry team unfortunately we still haven't progressed beyond that level in the 3 years since. Hopefully in about 6/7 years when these minors will be fully in the swing of things we might a legitimate quality side. KYTitletown (Kerry) - Posts: 816 - 18/07/2016 13:50:10 1885501 Link 0 |
This is simply that latest annual instalment of yet more evidence that the structure favours the Munster Champions. Start with a small number of competitive counties, throw in a seeded draw before adding a final scheduled earlier in July than other provinces. It's hardly a matter of conjecture that Kerry teams have been the benchmark for all others, but no one can seriously argue this format doesn't give rise to an unbalanced Championship. Wow! I'm surprised anyone thinks an early provincial final is an advantage for anyone. 3 weeks is the ideal preparation time. 4 weeks is a bit much. I'd prefer all provincial finals to be played on the same weekend. GAA want the hurling finals on different weekends. As it's Munster v Leinster in the second semi-final, the Munster final should have been played yesterday.
