I've watched all Dublin games and there just seems to be something missing in there play this year while winning games they aren't playing free flowing football both meath and Westmeath played for long periods. Most notable is their lack of goal threat. A big worry for them heading into knockout stages. Don't think they'll win it this year tyrone for me they seem to have that hunger this year username.if (Meath) - Posts: 67 - 17/07/2016 17:35:19 1884787 Link 3 |
I agree totally, we're missing that extra runner through the middle, hence very few goal chances. McCaffrey's absence is becoming glaringly obvious and I'd be a little worried going forward. I think any team playing well could catch us in the QF. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8589 - 17/07/2016 17:53:13 1884813 Link 1 |
Dublin don't look like their old selves, don't see a back to back with the hunger the other teams will have in the knock-out stages KerryKillers (Dublin) - Posts: 711 - 17/07/2016 17:59:30 1884827 Link 0 |
McCaffrey was the man who made things move smoothly ! WhyTheLongFace (Meath) - Posts: 876 - 17/07/2016 18:02:26 1884830 Link 0 |
I didn't watch the game today but from the sounds of it was just another case of the cat toying with a little mouse before eviscerating it whenever it wanted. KYTitletown (Kerry) - Posts: 816 - 17/07/2016 18:06:02 1884832 Link 0 |
Nope. The first half against Westmeath today will be the jizz up they need. They were totally listless because they knew they would win and so played really poorly. If they were to do this against a team that have the ability to beat them they would be in real trouble. Today's first half will ensure that they will be up for it when they meet a team that potentially could have their measure. PoolSturgeon (Galway) - Posts: 1903 - 17/07/2016 18:07:35 1884835 Link 0 |
Dublin still in third gear but still way too much for the best of Leinster. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11230 - 17/07/2016 18:15:44 1884844 Link 0 |
You can't just replace players like jmcc and roc. There is no conveyer belt despite what they say outside Dublin.... perhaps we should throw on a suitcase full of money to play in our half back line... Floops (Dublin) - Posts: 1623 - 17/07/2016 20:34:41 1884995 Link 0 |
Doesn't matter with Dublin not playing well in the first half , as per usual the opponent was left in the dust as Dublin come out of the dressing room for the second half , must be the best half time speeches amazing the must be .... royalpainter (Meath) - Posts: 874 - 17/07/2016 21:17:25 1885036 Link 0 |
You see normal teams dont have superstars/all star calibre in every position on the pitch, so losing only 2 out of 15 isn't going to make much of a difference as the 100% this year shows. It's not as if Kerry or Mayo already have a ROC tyoe full back or a Jack Mc in Kerry's case. It's not as if the 2 replacements are donkeys KYTitletown (Kerry) - Posts: 816 - 17/07/2016 21:54:20 1885061 Link 0 |

One tactic I noticed today was that Dublin defenders were inclined to stand fourteen yards from where the free taker began his run, not from where the actual free was from. This meant that the free taker, if he tried to gain any ground ended up quiet near the defenders when kicking the ball, which was off putting. Dean Rock on the other hand was allowed to run unhindered and used this to good effect. It was just a small detail but could make all the difference in a tight game. Fair play to the Dubs management, it means the are trying to stay one step ahead. Llaw_Gyffes (Mayo) - Posts: 1113 - 17/07/2016 22:14:30 1885083 Link 0 |
Hopefully can win tomorrow. We haven't played to our high standards in this years championship. We are not taking goal chances and have only scored 5 goals in 4 games compared when scored 18 in 7 championship games last year Gael85 (Dublin) - Posts: 1433 - 28/08/2016 01:14:00 1906793 Link 0 |
