Both have serious issues but Tipperarys destruction of Waterford today is a big assist in getting rid of the defensive set up in Hurling. For entertainment watching todays 2 matchs id give the Football a 2 out of 10 ( Roscommon had over 400 hand passes today for crying out loud ) and the Hurling due to Tipps goals 6 out of 10.

When you have too many of the wrong type of Footballers coaching hurling that is what you get, a shambles. Then again Galway v Roscommon was a pile of sh!te not even the players mothers would watch.

Well said . When it is played well and is competitive hurling is tremendous . At the moment hurling is a basket case as far as competitiveness is concerned . At least the football despite being played in monsoon conditions was a contest .

It also doesn't help if only one team turns up

Standard of hurling is as bad as I can recall in many years because it's trying to be to tactical. Funny the 2 best teams in the country over the last 10 years are the 2 who go orthodox.

Football? Is now a hand passing game played with 13 men in there own half again like hurling bar 2 or 3 teams

A terrible topic created by a diehard football fan and endorsed by other football fans. Who instead of facing up to the deteriorating state of gaelic football, put the boot (or should that be hand pass) into another sport.

Personally I can't stand football, bores me to tears, all pulling and dragging IMO. that said the hurling has deteriorated a lot in recent years.

It was far from a classic day of action for either game today.

A great game of hurling is something else. Unfortunately it's been a while since we've had one of those.

A very poor post.

Agree. Pure muck. In hurling these days the narrative is work rate and sweeper systems. Tipperary are the only team worth watching. Last nights games - 4 teams, 2.5 hours. Not once did a player pull on the ball on the ground. One Clare player pulled on the ball in the air. There was hardly a tackle in either game. Last Sunday's Leinster final had a ruck every minute it seemed. Awful tripe.

I'd rather watch a bad hurling match over every football match except the semi finals and final.

Just to confirm - the game of hurling wasn't founded at 4PM today

I love most sports but I find hurling fans really insecure about their match .

I remember being at a Cork / Donegal football match about 8-10 years ago .
Cork were playing in the hurling the following day but these fans begind us kept saying ' thank god for hurling ' , about 40 times I must add.

Hurling is no better or no worse than football .

It's a different game . It just so happens they are both unde the umbrella of the GAA.

No matter what people say - the football generates way more interest every year .
