Did Laois use 7 subs ?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

According to punditarena and the irish examiner they used 7 subs v Armagh and they could face disqualification.

Lets assume there guys are right, Is disqualification just a tad harsh ? simple mistake youd imagine ?

Tricky one.If the punishment is set in stone then there should be no issue. However i see the penalty for such an offence could be the forfeit of the game,or a fine.Bit of wriggle room for the powers that be.

I ask the question if Armagh had used 7 players/subs - what would the media call for...... i don't believe in winning a game in the boardroom... but a replay seems the fairest way......
Was it a common mistake or was it simply poor sportsmanship....... i don't believe that they didn't know... BUT the officials in portlaois were shockingly inept at their job on saturday - they were embarrassing in the way they handled the substitution

How does Mickey Mouse carry on like this constantly go on in GAA , does the fourth official not keep count on the likes of this?

The 7th sub came on in the 73rd minute..

Ridiculous then to even consider disqualifying them for bringin in a guy who likely didn't even tough the ball or have any major impact in the game.

Rules are rules on the number of subs, Laois should have known that. I think a fine would be enough, and Laois play Clare in the qualifiers.

I swear to God if the powers that be throw us out of the competition for making a genuine mistake when the game was done (the 7th sub came on 3 mins into injury time when Armagh were 2 points down at the time), then it will seriously look like their aim is to do a number on us!

Would the Armagh contingent look for a replay? I would accept if the sub came around 10 mins from the end but the game was up?
I would hazard a guess that we would get a fine, but even that I would hope the Laois county board stand firm on, especially after running it by the 4th official and him Ok'ing it.

RTE are reporting that a replay will be ordered between the teams. I can't understand the need for this. The 7th sub was for a black card in the 73rd minute. Although the 4th official should've alerted them to this and Laois themselves should've kept count

Looks like a replay.Laois will sick. And embarrassed.Ridiculous carry on.Maybe they were shell shocked after hearing of Lukaku's third goal for Belgium and their minds were elsewhere.

Are laois really to blame here?
really it's the officials on duty in portlaoise who the blame should be looking at.
it's there sole job to rule the game and a fourth official sole job is to look after substituting and display the amount of additional time. So clearly it's they who didn't do their job correctly. As always the line that they are human and make mistakes will be trotted out as is used after a ref has a poor game, but you could say the same about the laois management too so why should they be the only ones who have to account for the mess up.
For me the officials should all get a two match suspension and laois a fine.
Armagh players already have their holidays booked at this stage

Not up to the fourth official for your county's own mistake so do not put blame on one person

Laois should how many subs they used so .You can't put full blame on to fourth official

Is that an actual fact though? That Laois checked with the fourth official before putting him on? Has someone from the Laois set up come out and confirmed that or is it just making the rounds between fans?
