Dublin v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Perhaps this clash doesn't quiet have the same ring about it as in previous decades but considering what happened with Cork,Mayo and Tyrone having a scare too, could Meath do a smash and grab job as in 2010. Forewarned is forearmed.

If the dubs don't win by double figures I will be shocked.

The present set-up doesn't do complacency so we're told, but we'll see soon enough, Dubs by 9 or 10!

Dublin played well in places against Laois, but overall the performance was below par

That's a good thing for Dublin as it exposed a couple of issues and would have brought a bit of focus to their training over the last couple of weeks

I just don't see Dublin being caught cold, unless anything happens this week, Dublin should have a fully fit panel to pick from and we'll possibly see both Flynn and Andrews starting

That'll be some serious bench for Dublin... pace, power, skill in abundance to bring into the game

Meath will need goals, and I just don't see them committing a lot going forward, I can see them going very defensive, the days of Meath setting up man v man against Dublin will soon come to an end

I honestly hope Meath put in a big performance and trouble Dublin but I just don't see them winning

I think Meath will do just that but Dublin still to win by 6+

We just have too much at present for Meath to deal with for 70+ minutes...

I don't think they do. . .but that's not enough.

There's a huge gulf in class.

In order for Meath to win, I reckon they need to score 4/5 goals again. I don't think they have the forwards to do this and I think Dublin's defence gives Cluxton more protection than in 2010.

The only way you can fear a team is if you fear losing to them, therefore I'd wager that Meath in fact DO fear Dublin, if they don't, they should :D

We're probably going to get hammered. A 5 point loss would be a good result. To have any hope we need a very aggressive blanket defensive with Wallace, O'Sullivan and Reilly breaking at pace. We should leave two big men, Newman and Tormey on the edge of the square and bring everyone else behind the ball when we don't have it. Soon as we lose the ball we need to sprint back and form a defensive structure. Can't see it happening.

Any hopes Meath had of catching Dublin on the hop disappeared last night when Galway beat Mayo.

That result will serve as a reminder that not taking a game seriously can end up with you falling flat on your arses. (As if we needed one)

I see a lot of Meath fans saying Galways result will give Meath confidence. Its not confidence youll need to beat Dublin, Its a miracle.

This team and management are not new in the door. This set up has been preparing for games in the same, unassuming, confident, quiet manner for the past 3 years. It wont change this week.. Looking to the leinster final is not an option for these lads.

Meath will have been dissected thoroughly by Dublins management, Aswell as our performance against Laois looking for ways to improve and areas that can hurt Meath.

Go man on man, We will eat them up and win by double figures.. And will literally eat them up .. winning by whatever margain we want depending on how much we wanna exert ourselves.

Go ultra defensive ? Well, Donegal have been doing that for years. And they've not beaten us since the 2014 semi final. We have playing v a well trained defensive blanket figured out, And Meath don't play it often enough to get near Donegal levels. So we will keep possession, have them chasing shadows. Wear them down and beat them that way

We don't have to win the game in the first 10 minutes. We can be patient, wait for the right time and go for it then.

This is just another game for these players. They don't give a s**** about the tradition of the opposing county. Meath might not fear Dublin, But Dublin certainly don't fear them.

IF Meath can somehow pull it off, Ill be back to congratulate every MEath fan on a job well done. But I suspect I wont have to do that come this day week.
