I'm almost convinced that these draws are fixed. Teams of similar standard always seem to be paired together MarkMyWords (Meath) - Posts: 498 - 07/06/2016 09:57:45 1862611 Link 0 |
Can someone explain to me what is going on with the 1A draw? Three of the four fixtures will be teams who have had weeks to recover from losing in their province, yet Louth/Meath will be facing Derry within 6 days of losing the match this Sunday. I don't see why we should be punished for our game taking place when it did. I could understand if this was due to replay's or things outside the GAA'S control, but in fairness Louth's opening championship game was on May 14th, so there was plenty of time to fit this fixture in since then. Some very evenly matched games in there. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4217 - 07/06/2016 10:02:15 1862614 Link 0 |
Some very interesting games, nearly all games very hard to call. Armagh and Laois the pick of the bunch ShortGrass_1 (Kildare) - Posts: 223 - 07/06/2016 10:03:18 1862615 Link 0 |

The Silage contractors have been booked for Casement for the end of the week - should be grand to play a match on then. Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 07/06/2016 10:35:04 1862641 Link 0 |

1A group is totally unfair to Louth/ Meath . Down, Longford,Antrim or Laois should have been in there instead. Can we get an explanation from CP. 19616609 (Louth) - Posts: 1595 - 07/06/2016 10:56:19 1862664 Link 0 |

Not the point Wayno! Its unfair on Louth too.You have teams in 1B of the draw playing at the end of June who won't be out this weekend.Whats the explanation for that?? ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 07/06/2016 11:22:42 1862680 Link 0 |
Its a farce and even if Meath beat Louth,I will feel a bit for Louth having to go to Derry 6 days later.Truely stupid decision.

There's alot to be said for returning to the old system of pure-knockout championship, there's absolutely nothing in this draw of interest in my opinion. It'll never happen of course because of the way money has captured things, what would all the busy TV people do on Saturdays if they didn't have Laois v Armagh to cover? hopefully common sense will prevail and Meath/Louth v Derry will be pushed back a week
