I think Armagh's biggest mistake was responding. Let the child have his attention seeking tantrum, then pat him on the head when he's done and then it's over.

Responding the Brolly feeds his insatiable trust for attention, just nothing him and have a happier life, simple.

Think the less said the better is what to do. Joe is a pundit that likes to stir the pot, job done by all accounts. McGeeney is a big boy and well fit to take criticism. Think they should just move on. In saying that, interesting that Down management didn't get the same grilling for yesterday, at least Armagh were relatively competitive! Just shows it was personal for Joe vs McGeeney.

winging???

The fact is brolly came out with a list of half-truths/lies/ inaccuracies....... was the Sunday Game the best way to deal with this ... i don't know.... really if i was interviewed i would have replied with ' Sure its only brolly...... even his wife doesn't listen or want to listen to him.'

Cringeworthy!

Armagh's response should have come on the field in their next game and in any subsequent game they have this summer.
Brolly's comments were too personnal but the County Chairman getting his 5 mins of fame on national TV came across as a scene worthy of an episode of Father Ted

I feel the sunday game pundits over last few years are terrible and bias example

If tyrone win sam with certain man would eat straw hat dooher ( colm). Tyrone where cheats disgracefull comments again and whelan lambasted tyrone and mc cann. But when philly mc mahon did same thinghe said it was not like philly bias again .

Cavanagh was not a man for drag down (brolly ) every team in county in club games have been at it for years.

the panel is a joke and very bias and if we said things like that we be sacked.

"Stefan Campbell for example, in the period up to two weeks before the Cavan game, played in four out of five of his club's [Clan na Gael] league matches."

Why would a player be playing 4 league games in a fortnight before a championship match?

Nothing short of cringe, Brolly will lap this up.

Embarrassing so say the least - this shows Armagh GAA has been rattled by Joe, and no one will be happier than Joe. McGeeney must be red faced as Tomas O'Shea says - its like getting your dad involved in a fight. If it hurts that bad do what Mickey Hart does and not even speak to them and go out and do it on the pitch. Not sure whos advising Armagh but would sack them.

I thought it was the wrong thing to do.If anything,it has put McGeeney under more pressure to deliver.Armagh have given Brolly plenty of publicity since they have circled the wagons after his Sunday Game outburst.Grimley was first out of the blocks.Jamie Clarke felt the need to say he'd no problem with Geezer and now the icing on the cake ; a ridiculous public defense of Geezer, the Armagh county board, players etc by a rather desperate looking county chairman. What was he thinking?I hope this doesn't set a precedence whereby every perceived slight or criticism is met by a county official of some sort appearing on the Sunday Game pleading innocence. Why not have a little Angelus type two minute slot before every programme for this carry on?

Embarrasing and nothing else .

It was cringe TV .

Most of what pundits say are inaccuracies . Spillane , O' Rourke generally get things wrong .

I couldn't believe what I was watching .

Your county officials were more than willing to defend some of your personnel when they were being dragged over the coals in the last few years during various controversies. Mc Geeney is a good Gaa man and a devoted county man his whole life and Armagh players and managers were right to defend him from the nasty personal insults from the " Derry Dose ".Infact more county's need to speak out against these poor excuses for football analysts. Brollys becoming a complete bore with his folksy rural Ireland clubman talk of football in a bygone era.

Seanie,i'm not condoning Brolly's comments.I thought they were a little over the top.For such a sharp mind, the man has a horrible, petty, vindictive side, and i've said as much on many occassions.I just dont believe it was the right thing to do for the county chairman to appear on the Sunday Game.

Fair enough. I didn't see the county official on the Sunday game but I can see why he would come on to defend McGeeney and I don't think he's wrong to do it and Infact I think more people should push back against the diatribes of these so called football analysts.

I cant do quotes on here, but as regards Cringe worthy...Well far play to Armagh...Brolly has been getting away with running his mouth of for to long.
And its no more cringe worthy than some of the stuff brolly comes out with especially the Sean cavanagh rant..
Thank God I have gotten Sky in..I go to all Donegal matches watch other Ulster games on BBC and mow watch games on Sky.
Ive had enough of looking and listening to Brolly a long time ago. How he keeps the job il never know. how anyone fines him entertaining is beyond me.!

Whatever about the merits of responding to Brolly(pointless). I could hardly agree with Armagh being described as a "Small County" with "limited resources".This from a County who were one of the top teams winning an All Ireland not so long ago. This just portrays Armagh as looking for excuses while having to contend with the whole world being against them. The likes of Sligo,Ros,Leitrim and Longford have less than half the amount of football clubs as Armagh yet Armagh are a "Small County"!!

Btw I wouldnt fancy meeting Armagh in the qualifiers.Their will be a kick in them.

Can't see what's so wrong with Armagh exercising their right to reply here: pundit comes out with some wild assertions, Co. Board corrects them. Brolly has a tendency to get very personal in his criticism (I recall him describing two blond Mayo forwards as "Swedish milkmaids" some years ago), so if he dishes it out he should be prepared to take it back.
