Desperate Ticket Sales for Dubs Laois

Bring em down the country they said
More will go to it they said
will sell out in minutes they said
Will help out rural town they said........

less than 13,000 tickets sold 2 days before the game!! Not a bed to be had in the town due to the cat laughs, and with the current weather, no way 10,000 are gonna hit the roads!1

tragically, the game would have had DOUBLE the ticket sales had they kept it in corker after all!!!
And KK certainly didnt need the revenue this of all weekends

Only 2 places this game should have been played. Croker or Portlaoise.
Even had Wickla beaten Laois, Portaloise still woulda been better

WHAT A FARCE FROM THE GAA!

And to be brutally honest here, I have to admit to being a little surprised and disappointed at the lack of numbers coming from my own county

I wouldnt worry about it. Sadly the match will be one sided in the extreme and there is little point travelling down all that distance to watch a cakewalk. The future of inter-county is bleak and while you cannot blame Dublin for being strong maybe its time for smaller counties to band together. I previously put forward a model whereby smaller counties would be granted "vassal" status and would pay "tribute" to Laois by contributing their best players to our panel. Im thinking here of the likes of Offaly W Meath Meath Kildare etc. In return they would get to feel a part of the Laois setup and would have a genuine contender to support. Needless to say headquarters remain tightlipped on my proposals.

I'd say Laois sales are worse than Dublin
It's a fair we spin for them too and they don't travel in much hope realistically. Although I'm sure I Wil here that "Laois,Laois,...." chant when they score at some stage on the Sunday game

Leinster Council for the last 10 years: but but but only Croke Park can hold them. They have billions of die hard fans who want to see every game and only Croke Park can hold that many!

Dublin fans for the last 10 years: but but but we love watching Dublin so much, we'll go wherever we're told. We want to go down the country for a game!

This surely has to be the start of the Dublin playing more games on the road. Of course more than the capacity of Nowlan Park would have been in Croke park this weekend. They're massive loyal Dublin supporters who will travel and have done down through the years. But surely this prove the bandwagon does exist and no more quarter final games or even league games should be played in croke park to cater for the fair weather fan. This isn't a dig at the loyal supporters who have been let down and the Dublin team has been let down also. Using the excuse of nowhere to stay shouldn't stand up Donegal,Tyrone and Mayo supporters travel to croke park and back in the one day and for 7pm throw ins. It's an hour and half max from Dublin to Kilkenny so saying hotel availability is a problem is not a runner for me. Ok the Laois supporters complaining it should be in Portlaoise, and not traveling because of it is also a joke. Playing the dubs outside of croke park is surely better than playing them in croke park in terms of advantage.

If you look at it...the person who picked Nowlan Park, 7pm on a saturday and Cat Laughs Comedy Festival also on the same weekend ..you couldn't have pick a worse place or time or day if you tried!

But the flip coin of it is that it looks good next year when people argue about the Dublin should play more games outside of croke park..and all the big wigs have to say "look what happen with the laois v dublin game ..the dubs didn't travel " because they made sure they wouldn't travel !

7pm throw in did for me. I would've gone down it were earlier or on Sunday afternoon. Once it became clear that it'd be difficult to make a night of it with Cat Laughs on a lot decided not to bother I'd say.

Going to Portlaoise the following Sat, although it's also a 7pm throw in it's a handier spin imo.

You'received having a laugh but I agree with you. The day is wrong. The time is wrong. We won't have the place to ourselves. Very unfair.

Surely out of all those counties you mention Meath would be the obvious one to lead, as they have actually won a all Ireland in the past 20 years and leinsters too? So if Laois Offaly Carlow Kildare wmeath etc are happy to pay tribute to the royal then by all means send us your best players horse.

I'm going and I cant wait for the craic before and after the game, for the game itself will be as one sided as your ever going to see.

Stupid venue and one sided game will effect attendance. Unfortunetly this game has the interest of an O BYRNE cup game.

I'll be there because I love watching the Dubs. League or Championship. I did think this would be a sellout and maybe a lot of others did also and coupled with the cat laughs festival being on decided not to go. It's disappointing and nobody can whinge about not being able to get ticket for a game later in championship if they couldn't be bothered to go, 7pm start although not ideal can't be used as an excuse either. Plenty of opposing teams supporters have to travel to Croker for 7pm start.

They always come out with these lines in papers the week of matches
Sure they said the league final would only attract 70thousand max and it was a full house. Laois played at home in portlaoise in the last round and the crowd was 4,500 that game was even part of a double header with louth and carlow so i wouldnt expect laois to even bring one thousand supporters to nowlan park. There is 15 thousand tickets already sold and they usually sell around 5 thousand tickets on the day of the game so with still two days to go could well be full on the night

Chickens coming home to roost.

Laois v Dublin in Portlaoise made much more sense.

Does it not just show that a lot of Dublin supporters are on the bandwagon and only got to Croker for the day out,but couldn't be bothered travelling? Not you obviously, you are a proper fan.But I do know an individual who only goes to Dublin games in the champ, knows very little about the game or their players, but go with the flags, even painted face etc. They are not travelling to Kilkenny!

This game should have been played in Portlaoise.I'ld say the poor sales are mainly down to the fact that no one gives Laois a snowballs chance in hell of upsetting the Dubs.

Delighted, let's see the Leinster Council Cofferscafter this, only hurting themselves and other counties in the long run.

We will shrug it off financially without a sweat, more away games please.

Every county has them. Fans who scream from the roof tops when their County get to a final or semifinal that they are diehards never miss a game and deserve a ticket. yet come league are nowwhere to be seen.
Dublin are no different.
Although this game could still sell out.
